How to Install TrueCombat:Elite
Hi and welcome to this guide! We'll try to explain what you'll have to do, to play TrueCombat:Elite on your PC PreparationFirst, make sure your system has at least the following:
DownloadIf you start from scratch (what means you dont have - or you even dont know - Enemy Territory), you have to download:
You surely don't have to redownload the Enemy Territory files, if it's already installed on your machine! InstallationAfter you downloaded the files, we'll have to install it just in the order listed above. Starting with "Enemy Territory", run the setupfile which is most likely called "WolfET.exe". Feel the love of the installer, you will be asked to choose an installation directory for the game. We recommend you choose the default location suggested. Click OK and continue the installation. If you choose another location for installing the game you will need to know where you installed it later, keep this in mind (the default ET directory should be: "C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory").Add a shortcut to your desktop when prompted, you will use this later. Next step: update Enemy Territory to v2.6, what means you'll have to run the "Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory Patch (to v2.6)". The install directory you chose for ET should be shown, if not locate it then continue the installation. If you have not experienced any errors or problems so far, we now have successfully installed the standalone game "Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory". Before we move on to the installation of TrueCombat:Elite itself, we strongly recommend you to try to run "Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory". Join an online game, to be sure that even your internet connection and settings are OK. The most occuring problems are related to Enemy Territory, if you have problems running TrueCombat:Elite but Enemy Territory itself works fine, its much easier to locate the problem. If you can assume that Enemy Territory works fine, we welcome you to proceed to the next step. I hope you're still comfortable - be sure you have the TrueCombat:Elite files you've just downloaded handy. Installing TrueCombat:Elite 0.46 is easily done by a smooth doubleklick on the installer file. Select next after reading the Beta release notification. You will be asked to locate the ET directory - the default location will be shown, if you installed elsewhere choose browse and find the correct et directory. Once the ET directory is found select next and the installation will continue. When it is finished the README will be displayed. TrueCombat:Elite should now be installed in the 'tcetest' directory inside the ET directory. If the default ET directory was used this should be: "C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\tcetest". Last step: update TrueCombat:Elite to the latest version. The patch (TrueCombat : Elite 0.46 Patch (to 0.48)) you've downloaded should be a ZIP file. If you don't know how to handle/extract ZIP files, we're lost (or you have a look here, Windows XP users might share some time with their "Help and Support Center"). If you're ok with ZIP files: extract the ZIP file into the TrueCombat:Elite folder (remember, thats just the one listed above). StartupCongratulations, TrueCombat:Elite should now be installed on your PC! To start the game, have a look in your Windows Start Menu.To join an online server, you'll have to use a standalone server browsing tool, such as "The All Seeing Eye" (called ASE). More help on finding and joining servers you might find here and here. Enough said, we hope you are now able to - go play ! If you have any further problems we invite you to get help in our Support Forum or our IRC Support channel. |
